About Uniqlo
Ah, Uniqlo! Now there's a solid go-to for your everyday essentials. Known for its steadfast commitment to quality and spot-on fit, Uniqlo has carved out a cozy niche in the realm of basic wear. But what makes them stand out in the crowd? Well, it's not just about their well-made pieces, it's the attractive price tags they come with. You see, Uniqlo offers this stellar combination of quality and fit without making your wallet whimper in despair. Yep, they've somehow mastered the art of delivering high-quality basic wear at a price point that would make even the savviest of budget shoppers nod in approval. Whether you're stocking up on staples or hunting for that perfect tee, Uniqlo often seems to hit the sweet spot between affordability and quality. But will their offerings stand up to the rigors of our quest for the ultimate tee? Only time (and plenty of wear and wash tests!) will tell.
The t-shirt
For ages, Uniqlo has been my trusted treasure trove for all things basic. So naturally, when I kicked off my quest for the perfect daily tee that I could bulk up on back in the 2019/2020 era, I turned to my old faithful. All in all, I reckon I snagged about 10 of these babies in a mix of black and white, v-neck and crew-neck. These now-vintage tees were spun from Supima cotton, with a price tag hovering just shy of 30 quid, which if you ask me, is pretty darn reasonable.
The verdict
Having these trusty tees in my rotation for around three years now, they've weathered the storm of countless laundry days pretty damn well. Sure, the cotton has lost some of its original softness, growing a bit rougher with each passing year, but overall, they've stood the test of time. Their resilience, I reckon, has a lot to do with their slightly beefier thickness compared to the other tees in my lineup.
Now, when we put them head-to-head with the Suit Supply tees (more on those in my next post), they never quite matched up in the softness stakes. This might have something to do with their chunkier build, which, while contributing to their durability, might have traded off a bit of their initial plushness.
A few of these tees have fallen in the line of duty during some intense DIY projects and messy mishaps (especially the white ones - you know how it is). So, all things considered, I reckon I've got about five of these bad boys still hanging in there.
